Alice Alexander is led by designer and founder Mary Alice Duff. Frustrated with her own experiences shopping for high-quality, ethically-made, size-inclusive clothing, Mary Alice took up sewing as a way to improve her own wardrobe. Realizing she had a knack for blending fabrication, silhouette and fit, and getting compliments from strangers on a near daily basis, Mary Alice realized there was a business in her new hobby. While working full-time in the nonprofit sector Mary Alice enrolled in design classes to refine her craft and gain the skills necessary to launch the brand Alice Alexander. Originally launched in September 2017 out of the third floor of Mary Alice's Philadelphia home with nothing but a handful of patterns, fabrics, a simple sewing machine and internet connection, Alice Alexander has now expanded into a fast-growing business with customers around the world. Based in East Falls, Philadelphia, Alice Alexander headquarters is home to a combined production studio and retail space, top of the line industrial sewing equipment and a team of five.
